Of course, that switch is still in the works since I'll be shifting to an Alder Lake Core i9-12900K system for GPU reviews in the near future. With that in mind, I wanted to verify that Windows 11 doesn't impact graphics card performance before switching to the new OS. Ultimately, two months after release, our Windows 11 launch impressions remain largely unchanged, and we're discovering even more disappointing aspects to the OS-like the Windows 11 SSD issues, which apparently still persist. We've covered some of the worst Windows 11 changes, and how to fix them. But in the process, it seems as though the UI designers felt a need to rearrange the furniture, switch around the drawers, and clean house on a bunch of functionality that I actually like. A new coat of paint would be fine, and I'm not necessarily averse to that. Let's be clear: Change for the sake of change doesn't go over well with me, and Windows 11 puts a new coat of paint on the worn-in and comfortable feeling Windows 10 house I've been living in since 2015. So how does it perform, specifically with games? That's what we wanted to find out, so we grabbed the two best graphics cards from AMD and Nvidia and put them to the test. Portions of DX12 were eventually backported to Windows 7, and you can still get Windows 10 for cheap, but now Windows 11 is the new kid on the block. Microsoft tried to encourage people to upgrade by initially offering Windows 10 for free, plus it was the only OS with support for DirectX 12. I've been rather happily running and benchmarking graphics cards with Windows 10 since just after it launched in 2015.

It's worth mentioning that Malwarebytes was affected by a cyberattack back in 2021. Not to mention, the free version only has malware scans, and other features are locked behind a paywall. Indeed, it can be a good protection tool for those that already use additional security tools and don’t need this antivirus to be versatile. Nevertheless, one or two exclusive features do not compensate for several crucial antivirus features, such as firewall, parental control, or data breach monitoring, that Malwarebytes lacks. While it delivers excellent results in both protection and functionality, the app lacks some modern but essential features.Īpart from the ability to detect up to 100% of either zero-day or 4-week-old threats, we noticed a couple of unique features. Music can often be like problem solving, so I often look at how others handled things in other games/music. I would say the inspiration for the soundtrack came from equal parts looking at the game, creating and discovering sounds and piecing them together and the kind of stupid encyclopedic knowledge of game soundtracks and music I already love. The visuals in Ooblets provide a very strong and evocative vibe so I would tend to look at screenshots or just leave the game running while I composed parts. I think this soundtrack is very textural compared to others and I place a high value on how an individual sound can make you feel. With this soundtrack, the sounds and timbre came first. Timing and fate aligned perfectly with me discovering Ooblets and I was very ready to start experimenting with obscure synths and sample workstations I had found out about over the years. Around the same time I figured that the then-current trend of Indie games being pixel art throwbacks would eventually turn to low-poly 3D and they would need soundtracks with appropriate sound palettes. I started off writing music using Gameboys and Nintendo hardware mixed with guitar and drums.Īfter a while I realized the sound palette I was more in love with when it came to video games was more in line with the N64/PS1 era and started doing extensive research into its components. The music for Ooblets is relatively straightforward and in line with the kind of music I had already been writing for a few years prior. What was your creative process like in writing the music for the game? How did you gather inspiration for it? Luckily, they did not and I did some test tracks and here we are. I saw early footage and screenshots from Ooblets on Twitter and decided to message the team and ask if they had anybody currently onboard for music. How did you get involved working on the Ooblets OST? Bandwagon caught up with Pedro Silva to talk about working on the Ooblets OST and how to get your foot in the gaming industry as a music composer.
